Yes but the faster pace and larger players can force them to improve only at what they can do well. Like it says in the article they might rely more on pace than anything else so they only improve in one way so they don't become better really just a one trick player.

To be honest I need more convincing. I still think the faster pace and larger players force the players to think quicker than in their own age group so they improve.

I'm not saying that every player shouldn't play up I am simply asking coaches to maybe go through the check list in that article before they suggest it.

That was the way I thought at first but I know in the future I'll think about it from a different angle next time I suggest someone should play up.

Finding it hard to get past the fact that I have been playing kids up for years and I really don't think it has done them any damage.

Playing up occasionally is slightly different from what the article was about. The article was more focused on players regularly playing in an older age bracket. I can see how playing every now and again with older players can be very beneficial.
